As part of our mission to educate our local community, Planet New Canaan hosts in-person and virtual presentations that address a wide variety of environmental and sustainability issues. From recycling and waste reduction to climate change adaptation, our programs inform and provide practical actions to address the challenges we face.

Complying with School Recycling and Composting Laws

3:30pm Zoom Meeting

DEEP staff will review current recycling and composting laws, including Public Act 24-45 and Executive Order 21-3 and how they impact schools. DEEP will also share new tools and resources to support schools. There will be plenty of time for questions.

Raffle, food & refreshments @ 6pm, Program @ 7pm, Wilton High School Little Theater

Hosted by community partners: Norwalk River Valley Trail, Norwalk River Watershed Association, Pollinator Pathway, Trout Unlimited, Wilton Go Green, Wilton Land Trust, Woodcock Nature Center. The Box Truck Film

6pm, Greenwich Academy

Follow two builders as they convert a 17-foot moving truck into a tiny house and mobile reuse education center, using almost nothing but reused, repurposed and dumpster dived materials!

Greenwich Academy and Waste Free Greenwich invite you for a Q&A with reuse experts Alex Eaves and Derek “Deek” Diedricksen and a screening of “The Box Truck Film: Building A Reuseful Home.” Through creative (and even comical) solutions, the film proves that almost everything we need to thrive in our daily lives already exists in abundance. Discover the endless benefits of the reuse life!

SAVE THE DATE for the first ever Planet New Canaan Fix-It Cafe. Got a bicycle, old lamp, or a favorite sweater in need of repair?  Don’t toss it—fix it! Bring your items, and our volunteers will help give them a second life.
